Project Name:  Dairy

Project Location:  San Joaquin County, CA

Project Description:  SGI provided technical assistance on a groundwater investigation in response to pending litigation. SGI provided complete record keeping services to monitor dairy facility, wastewater storages, and field application of nutrients.  The SGI consultants collected data on nutrient applications and exports, crop production, irrigation water applications, and mortality management. Work included the preparation of Waste and Nutrient Management Plan, Storm Water Annual Report, as well as sampling of wastewater, solid manure, soil, plant tissue, and domestic and agricultural supply wells. In addition, SGI completed water well inspections for backflow certification.

 

Project Name:  County of Merced, Contract for Waste and Nutrient Management Plans

Project Location:  Merced County, CA

Project Description:  Contract includes completion of the following tasks for 224 dairies in Merced County: Waste and Nutrient Management Plans, Preliminary Dairy Facility Assessments, Infrastructure Needs Checklist, Interim Facility Modifications, Backflow certification, vicinity maps, facility maps, and field maps outlining wastewater conveyances on facility and fields. This contract was the first of its kind awarded in the County.  In order to complete the work, SGI project managers organized multiple meetings and site visits with dairy operators, resulting in long term relationship with dairymen across the County.

 

Project Name:  Technical Consulting Support in Legal case

Project Location:  San Joaquin and Stanislaus Counties, CA

Project Description:  SGI provided technical support to a law firm defending four dairies in San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties. The work included providing comments on pending regulations and proposed settlement agreements, as well as preparation of Notice of Intent for coverage under National Discharge Elimination System permit for Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations.  In addition, requirements included preparation of Waste and Nutrient Management plans, soil and groundwater sampling, recordkeeping, reporting and training.  SGI provided continued advisement on implementation of nutrient management plan, on-site recommendations for facility modifications and coordination of resources for modifications.  SGI's role was instrumental to the successful defense provided by the legal team.
