Sanitary Landfill Site Investigation

Naval Air Station
Sanitary Landfill Site Investigation, Island of Guam

The Source Group staff performed a site Investigation at a former sanitary landfill as part of the U.S. Navy's Comprehensive Long-Term Environmental Action Navy (CLEAN) program. The landfill was located at a former Naval Air Station on the island of Guam.

The objective of the site Investigation was to determine the landfill size, geometry, and composition, as well as assess the potential contaminants and contaminant migration associated with the landfill materials.

The project entailed the completion of a biological reconnaissance, site clearing, soil gas survey, surface geophysical survey, soil boring and sampling, trenching, installation of groundwater monitoring wells, aquifer studies, and groundwater sampling.
