Environmental Program Management
Plastics Machinery Manufacturer
Midwest and Eastern United States
The Source Group managed a $15 million facility regulatory compliance and site remediation program on behalf of an international plastics machinery manufacturer. The program addressed a total of nine closed and operating factories with soil and groundwater impacted by solvents, PCBs, metals, and petroleum products.
We developed and implemented a comprehensive regulatory compliance program for their operational facilities. Under the program, sensible strategies were developed and executed to achieve site closure quickly and avoid costly remediation where possible.
The Source Group was responsible for: facility environmental compliance audits and planning, environmental liability cost modeling and budgetary planning, procurement and management of environmental services and suppliers, client representation at regulatory negotiations and responsible party settlements, expert technical support to corporate legal counsel, public relations and communications, and development and implementation of regulatory compliance training at operating facilities.
Results: By negotiating the application of risk-based remedial approaches, The Source Group was able to reduce clean up requirements and lower remediation costs by over $7 million at a site in Rhode Island. Site closure without active remediation was achieved at three other sites.
