Remedial Approach Development and Cost Modeling

Project Description: The Source Group was retained by a large insurance company to complete a remedial approach and cost evaluation for a dry cleaning facility where past disposal operation resulted in a 4,000 foot dissolved plume.

The evaluation was performed in support of a fixed price/insurance backed remediation proposal submitted to our client for remedial cost cap insurance underwriting. Our scope included performing an engineering evaluation of the proposed remedial technologies and their ability to meet remedial objectives and a review of the proposed costs to determine if they were adequate to meet long-term requirements. Where appropriate, alternate, more feasible remedial tasks were identified and costs estimated.

Results: We identified key deficiencies in the proposal where probable remedial requirements had been overlooked and not quantified. Conversely, several remedial scope items were over priced and/or outcomes too conservatively defined. The result, our client was able to develop balanced and competitive pricing for their insurance product and is the preferred insurance vendor for the project.
